Coca-Cola

The Coca-Cola Company is the largest beverage company in the world. Its flagship product Coke is what the company is best known for. The drink was invented by chemist John Pemberton back in 1886. In 1889, the Coca-Cola formula and brand was acquired by Asa Candler who then went on to incorporate the company in 1892. Coca-Cola currently offers almost 400 brands in more than 200 countries and serves up to 1.5 billion servings on a daily basis.
The company operates a franchised system dating back to the late 1880s where it only produces syrup concentrate which is sold to many bottlers in various countries who hold an exclusive territory.
The Coca-Cola Company’s headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia. The company is listed on the NYSE and is also part of S&P 500.
The Coca-Cola Company was founded as the Pemberton Medicine Company, partnered by Dr John Pemberton and Ed Holland. It was founded to sell 3 main products i.e. Coca-Cola, Pemberton’s Queen Hair Dye and Globe Power Cough Syrup.
In 1984, the company was listed on NYSE and its name was then changed to Pemberton Chemical Company. DD Doe was appointed the new president while Ed Holland took the role of vice-president, with Pemberton staying on as the superintendent.
Finally in 1888, the Coca-Cola Company received a charter with an initial capital of $50,000. The new charter was made official on 15th January 1889, when the company had managed to expand its offerings to include Orange and Lemon Elixer.
